Welcome to Week Seven of our 7 Chakras Weekly Series.
This week, we arrive at the final energy center in the chakra system: Chakra 7 – The Crown Chakra, also known as the center of connection, wisdom, and spiritual enlightenment. When the Crown Chakra is balanced, we feel joyful, expansive, and aligned with a sense of higher purpose. An imbalance, however, can manifest as spiritual disconnection, confusion, or a loss of meaning.

The Importance of the Crown Chakra

Located at the top of the head, the Crown Chakra is your gateway to higher states of consciousness. It represents your connection to something greater than yourself — whether that be universal energy, divine wisdom, or your own inner truth. When this chakra is in harmony, you experience mental clarity, a deep sense of peace, and a joyful appreciation for life. When blocked, it can bring about feelings of isolation, purposelessness, or spiritual discontent.

Nourish with Violet Foods

Support your Crown Chakra by incorporating more violet and deep blue-hued foods into your meals. These high-frequency foods help to stimulate and vitalize your upper energy centers — the throat, third eye, and crown.

Consider adding these to your diet:

  • Blueberries & blackberries
  • Purple grapes & plums
  • Eggplant & purple cabbage
  • Figs, prunes, & raisins
  • Purple onions

Crown Chakra Meditation

    1. Find a quiet, comfortable space. Begin with deep diaphragmatic breaths.

    2. Bring your focus to the crown of your head.

    4. Silently repeat the word “wisdom” to yourself, anchoring yourself in the energy of your deeper purpose – the essence that fuels your path and guides your growth.

    5. As you tune in to your higher self, gently ask, “Who am I?” — witnessing whatever answers arise from within the self.

    6. Close the practice by softly chanting the mantra “OM”, noticing the vibrations in your crown.

Whispering Breath (Ujjayi Breathing)

This breathwork technique increases focus, stamina, and inner calm — supporting your connection to the present moment and helping to clear stagnant energy from the crown.

How to Practice:

    1. Start by inhaling and exhaling through the mouth, making a gentle “haaa” sound to contract the back of your throat.

    2. Once comfortable, close your mouth and continue breathing through your nose while maintaining that slight throat contraction — creating a soft whispering sound.

    3. Practice for 1–2 minutes during meditation or movement.

This breath helps you stay centered and connected, enhancing focus and endurance both on and off the mat. By gently contracting the back of the throat, this breathwork increases stamina and aerobic capacity, making it a powerful tool for mindful movement and deeper awareness.

Yoga for the Crown Chakra

Gentle, grounding postures and restorative inversions can help quiet the mind and awaken the spiritual center.

Recommended Poses:

  • Headstand (Sirsasana) – An advanced inversion that directly stimulates the crown and brings energy to the top of the head. (Use a wall or instructor if you’re new to this pose.)
  • Lotus Pose (Padmasana) – A meditative seated posture ideal for connecting with inner stillness and spiritual awareness.
  • Corpse Pose (Savasana) – Total relaxation posture to release mental tension and open to higher consciousness.
  • Supported Shoulder Stand (Salamba Sarvangasana) – A calming inversion that activates upper chakras and promotes clarity.
  • Tree Pose (Vrksasana) – Balances the body while encouraging upward energy flow and spiritual focus.

Practicing these poses can enhance your sense of peace, foster a deeper connection to purpose, and bring balance to your energetic system.
