13 Aug Apprentice Journal – Week 7: Mastering Updos, Braids & Classic Styles

This week was all about refining my styling skills and building speed with classic techniques. I created a variety of updos—from a modern take on the polished French twist to textured braided styles, elegant buns, and playful bubble braids. Each look gave me the chance to focus on clean sectioning, balanced proportions, and secure pinning to ensure every style could last through an entire day or event.

I also worked on enhancing my color expertise with two guest new-growth applications, carefully matching each shade for flawless blending. When I wasn’t behind the color chair, I was perfecting my pedicure skills—improving technique, increasing efficiency, and learning new massage techniques to make the experience even more relaxing for guests.

With every week, I’m feeling more confident and can see my styling foundation getting stronger through each service and mannequin practice.
