Apprentice Journal – Week 1 at Rejuvenation Spa
Training Highlights: Curl Sets, Updos, Braids & Blowouts
Hi everyone! I’m so excited to start this weekly blog to share a behind-the-scenes look at my cosmetology apprenticeship here at Rejuvenation Spa. This first week has already been full of learning, hands-on practice, and so many helpful tips from my co-workers.
One of the highlights of my week was working with Marcel curling irons on mannequins. I thought it would be really tricky, but it actually came pretty naturally to me! I’ve been focusing on how to prep the hair for updos — creating a strong foundation with curls, using sectioning clips correctly, and understanding how to build shape and hold.
You can see some of my work in the photos I’ve shared (click here) — from prepped sections and pinned curls to a few of the updos, braids, and a roundbrush blowout I practiced this week. It’s been so rewarding to watch the styles come together from start to finish.
My favorite hairspray for prepping updos right now is Aveda Control Force. It’s safe to use right before applying heat, which makes styling so much easier. Plus, it offers the strongest hold — essential for creating styles that need to last all day.
I’m feeling super grateful to be learning in such a supportive environment and can’t wait to keep sharing my journey each week. Thanks for following along!
See you next week,
— Chloe, Rejuvenation Spa Cosmetology Apprentice
